This crispy tofu goes with (almost) everything, enjoy it with rice, noodles, on salads, with savoury breakfasts – the possibilities are endless!
Ingredients
- 250 g – 280 g extra firm tofu, drained and patted dry then cut into either 2 cm cubes, slices or triangles
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 tablespoons cornflour
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder or granules
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Method
In a large bowl thoroughly coat the tofu with olive oil.
In a mug or jug, mix the cornflour, garlic, paprika, salt and pepper together. Pour this evenly over the tofu and make sure each piece is completely covered.
Using a large frying pan or wok, head a little oil on a medium heat.
Add the tofu and fry for a few minutes on each side or until crispy and golden.

Note: If you’d rather over bake the tofu, then preheat the oven to 190°C/375°F/gas mark 5 and line a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Lay the tofu on the baking tray ad place in the over for 20-25 minutes or until gold and crispy, turning once.
Tip: Change the seasoning depending on your dish. For example, add curry powder if serving with curries, fajita seasoning if serving with Mexican dishes, Italian mixed herbs with Italian dishes etc. If you want to keep it neutral then just stick to the cornflour, salt and pepper.
