Sam Jones is a self-taught chef and content creator based in Bournemouth. Having started out in photography and food styling, he now shares his love of plant-based cooking through No Meat Disco. His debut cookbook, No Meat Disco: Seven-Ingredient Plant-Based Recipes, is full of fuss-free, flavour-packed dishes that make every day cooking a little more exciting.

1. What motivates you to eat meat free?

I think firstly it’s to help the planet breathe a bit more. I also like to encourage others to eat meat free to show them how easy and enjoyable it can be.

2. What items are always in your fridge?

Tofu, hot sauce, loads of veg and harissa paste.

3. It’s Meat Free Monday and you’ve got a friend coming round – what are you going to cook for them?

Probably my butter tofu curry. Or some sort of pulled oyster mushroom burger. Oh, and if I’m feeling naughty my Mushroom Karaage!

4. What was the last thing you ate?

Avo on toast with pickled cabbage and hot sauce!

5. If you had to choose only one country’s cuisine to eat forever, which would you choose?

South East Asian. Anything from that region always excites me! Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian. There is always so much flavour and variety of dishes.

6. Sweet or savoury?

I’m definitely a sweet man but it’s got to be both.

7. Pizza or pasta?

Oooo tough one! If I’m eating out then pizza, but at home pasta!

8. Tofu or beans?

Tofu!

9. Mild or spicy?

Spicy!

10. What advice would you give to people wanting to give meat free a try?

Be experimental with it. Don’t be scared, it’s really easy and exciting. Buy a meat free cookbook and learn how to cook vegetables in a fun way! I recommend mine 😉
