Leading supermarket chain M&S Food is encouraging customers to go plant based for one day a week

Posted : 1 January 2022

M&S Food has got on board with Meat Free Monday to help customers kick start a more plant-based 2022. The supermarket chain will be sharing recipe inspiration, tips and advice from M&S nutritionists every Monday online and on social media, as well as offering discounts for Sparks customers on its award-winning meat free Plant Kitchen range every Monday throughout the month.

January also sees the expansion of its vegan-friendly range, with some delicious new additions, all benchmarked for taste against their meaty counterparts. With 175 products now available, including Plant Kitchen Cheese Flavour Twists, Plant Kitchen Sourdough Hot & Spicy Wood-fired Pizza and Plant Kitchen Chocolate Cake Jar, there’s never been a better time to give plant-based eating a go.

M&S Nutritionist, Sophia Linn says: “When it comes to tackling climate change, it can feel difficult to make a difference. But shifting our diets to incorporate more plants is one of the simplest ways to reduce your carbon emissions. We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Meat Free Monday to help inspire customers to give it a go and make 2022 a more plant-based one.”

Awarded Best Vegan Retailer by PETA in 2019 for its Plant Kitchen launch, and winner of the Vegan Food and Living Award for ‘best own brand vegan supermarket range’ in 2021, M&S reports that one in five of its customers now follows a flexitarian diet.
