Meat Free Monday One day a week can make a world of difference

Win a trial subscription to Cook Vegetarian magazine

It's National Vegetarian Week this week - the annual campaign to raise awareness of meat-free eating and its benefits, in terms of the environment, health and animal welfare.

It’s a great opportunity for meat-reducers to get involved – perhaps by keeping it Meat Free Monday, but also cutting down across the rest of the week. Why not try replacing one portion of meat a day with a meat substitute like tofu or soya, or just reward yourself with extra vegetables?

There has never been a better time to cut down on the number of animal products on your plate and in your shopping trolley, with thousands of restaurants now offering vegetarian options, and a wealth of products available in supermarkets and health food stores. And with the cost of meat also rising – both in financial and environmental terms – what better time to dip your culinary toe into meat-free cuisine?

To celebrate National Vegetarian Week, MFM is offering 10 lucky people the chance to win a three-month subscription to Cook Vegetarian magazine, which features hundreds of new recipe ideas per issue, as well as advice from top chefs and news about the latest meat-free products. Twenty-five runners-up will also win a free copy of the magazine.
