An invitation to people all over the planet to enjoy a meat-free midday meal, WML is also about logging on en masse to WorldMeatlessLunch.org to share your experiences of healthier and more environmentally friendly food.
Meat Free Monday is fully behind this great initiative, the first of its kind, and is encouraging its supporters to join in and spread the word to their friends and family.
Luntiang Lunes organised the event to coincide with World Vegetarian Day today, which is also the start of Vegetarian Awareness Month, part of a drive to encourage more people to consider the benefits of eating less meat.
Like MFM, the intention of the World Meatless Lunch initiative is to help people take small steps towards a greater goal: reducing global meat consumption and livestock production for the sake of human health, animal welfare and the environment.
Now, what do you have planned for lunchtime…?
