It’s the start of the COP26 climate change conference. Urgent action is needed to tackle climate change and its impacts, and this includes a transition away from our current animal-based food system. Here are five simple actions that you can take today:
#1 Join Meat Free Monday
If you aren’t already taking part in Meat Free Monday, join us by having at least one plant-based day each week – and encourage friends and family to do the same. As Paul McCartney said: “Many of us feel helpless in the face of environmental challenges, and it can be hard to sort through all the advice and find what we can do to help make a cleaner and more sustainable world. One designated meat free day is an easy change that everyone can make.”
#2 Share our Meat Free Monday Meals video
We invited children and young people to send us their Meat Free Monday Meals – to show world leaders, and everyone else, that eating green is easy and delicious!
#3 Support the Plant Based Treaty
Modelled on the Fossil Fuel Treaty, the Plant Based Treaty aims to halt the widespread degradation of critical ecosystems caused by animal agriculture and promote a shift to healthier, sustainable plant-based diets.
#4 Calculate your meat free impact
Use our calculator to work out the positive impact of your plant-based days – then share your results to inspire others to get on board!
#5 Be informed
Get to grips with the facts and figures so that you can explain to others why you’re eating less meat and dairy. There are many impactful films worth watching including Eating Our Way to Extinction, Cowspiracy, Seaspiracy and Meat Free Monday’s very own documentary short, One Day a Week.
