In the summer MFM teamed up with Not Dogs to help them introduce a brand new hotdog to their menu.
Offering exciting ‘meaty without the meat’ fast food, Not Dogs, located within Birmingham’s iconic Bullring shopping centre, was created by Katie and Jane, one meat-reducer and one vegetarian, both with a love of quick, very tasty and exciting food.
With an all-veggie menu of exclusive Not Dogs with house-made toppings, tasty burgers and crispy fries, the restaurant wanted to add a new item to its menu in celebration of Meat Free Monday – the ‘Meat Free Mondog’! – and so it invited people to send in their ideas.

The Pizza Margarita Dog by Iona Hodson
A Not Dog in a toasted bun topped with marinara sauce, a sprinkle of grated cheese/vegan cheese and finished with fresh basil … a simple, delicious Italian-inspired dog!
The runners up were …
BLT by Michaela Williams
Veggie/vegan bacon wrapped around a Not Dog topped with lettuce, tomatoes and mayo.

Cheezy Mac Dog by Amy Pople
A Not Dog topped with vegetarian/vegan mac ‘n’ cheese, a little paprika plus a sprinkling of crispy fried onions to top it off and add texture, and optional ketchup.
Asked to comment on our choices, we said: “MFM loved the creative ideas suggested for the new Meat Free Mondog! We chose the Pizza Margarita Dog due to its originality, the way it would add an Italian option to the Not Dogs already quite international menu, because of its flexibility (different toppings, vegan option) and because we think pizza spicing and a veggie sausage would make a tasty combination. The runners up – the BLT and Cheezy Mac Dog – were great too and we hope they make an appearance on the menu in the future!”
