Meat Free Monday One day a week can make a world of difference

MFM on the menu at Eco-Schools Show

Meat Free Monday was on the agenda at the Eco-Schools Show in Sheffield yesterday, spreading the message to more than 2,600 visitors that it’s green to eat vegetarian food and that "one day can make a world of difference"

The Vegetarian Society conducted a unique workshop entitled “Meat Free Mondays and Beyond”, which aimed to explore the environmental impact of the food choices we make, and to encourage students, teachers and caterers to consider the far-reaching benefits of introducing Meat Free Mondays (or Tuesdays or Wednesdays…) to their schools.

The Eco-Schools Show is the single largest sustainable schools event in England and is especially important because it focuses on a younger audience – primary and secondary school pupils. The workshop ties in perfectly with Paul McCartney’s recent video message to schools, explaining the aims of the campaign and the importance of reducing the amount of meat we eat.
