A meat-free option appeared on the dinner menu at the star-studded event in New York’s Carnegie Hall on 9 November, and the campaign was referred to in a speech by Olivia Harrison, who co-presented McCartney’s award along with fellow Beatle wives Yoko Ono and Barbara Starkey.
“If you go to dinner tonight and find a ‘Meat Free Monday’ option on your menu, thank Stella,” Harrison told an audience of 1,500, including Bill Clinton and Maria Shriver. “She’s asking people to choose one day a week totally free of meat in an attempt to slow down global warming.”
