Cheyne Walk Brasserie in Chelsea will be cooking up a meat-free lunchtime feast this Monday – 16 September – between 12 and 3pm.
MFM founders Paul, Mary and Stella McCartney have offered their support for the announcement, saying: “We are thrilled that the Cheyne Walk Brasserie will be supporting Meat Free Monday on September 16, showcasing an exquisite meat-free lunch menu.
“Skipping meat one day each week is a simple but significant action that people can take to help preserve the planet for generations to come.”
Designed by the brasserie’s chef, Olivier Ripert, dishes will include: Jerusalem Artichokes and Girolles Mushrooms Gratin; Courgette stuffed with Aubergine Caviar, Crispy Parmesan Chips and Red Pepper Coulis, and Brillat-Savarin with Black Truffles, Steamed New Potatoes finished with Walnut Emulsion.
Sally Greene, who opened Cheyne Walk Brasserie in 2003, said she was delighted that the McCartney family had endorsed the 10th-anniversary collaboration with Meat Free Monday.
She added: “[I am] equally proud to be supporting this vital initiative that encourages us all to go vegetarian one day a week in order to reduce our carbon footprint. It is wonderful that as a restaurant famed for its grilled meat and fish, Chef Olivier Ripert has embraced this culinary challenge and come up with a really special menu that will hopefully delight and excite our diners.”
Prices for the Meat Free Monday lunch start at £19 a head for two courses, and £23 for three courses, with a complimentary cocktail on arrival.
