- What motivates you to eat meat free?
My journey started from a love for animals, but really, it benefits everyone. It’s amazing for our health and longevity, and it helps the environment too. Plus, it tastes delicious and made me so much more creative in the kitchen!
- What items are always in your fridge?
Tofu, soy milk, sauerkraut, miso, pickled onions, fresh herbs, and, of course, fruits and vegetables. The ones I buy almost every week are mushrooms, carrots, spinach, bok choy, zucchini, broccoli, scallions, berries, kiwis and apples.
- It’s Meat Free Monday and you’ve got a friend coming round – what are you going to cook for them?
Marry Me Orzo! That’s what I’m making for my in-laws this Meat Free Monday. It’s delicious, nutritious, easy, and all made in one pot.
- What was the last thing you ate?
Protein cinnamon oats with blueberries, banana, walnuts, ground flaxseeds, and peanut butter. I never skip the toppings!
- If you had to choose only one country’s cuisine to eat forever, which would you choose?
Oh, that’s a very tough one! I’m going to cheat a little and pick a region instead of one country: definitely the Mediterranean.
- Sweet or savoury?
Savoury.
- Pizza or pasta?
Pasta.
- Tofu or beans?
Beans.
- Mild or spicy?
Mild. I love spicy food, but it doesn’t always love me back!
- What advice would you give to people wanting to give meat free a try?
It’s so much fun to try new recipes and ways of cooking, you might even find your new favourite! Make a list of a few recipes you’d like to try (we have lots of nourishing ones on our website) and cook a new one every Monday. Pasta and curries are great places to start if this is new to you, since they still feel familiar. And don’t forget to share your new go-tos with friends and family. There’s so much power in changing what’s on your plate, one meal at a time!
